big apple day 3 - after farewell

let's continue with big apple day 3 after a tiny sidetrack by zen. we girls decided that we needed to cheer up after sadly bidding farewell, so we went little italy for some mood-perking desserts.

(im refraining frm using the word goodby* cuz i think pato said he doesnt like that word cuz it sounds like we'll never meet again. then again, farewell sounds worse. ahhh whatever. haha~)

ordered chocolate cannoli, tiramisu and american cheesecake. in my opinion, they all tasted so-so only, but ting n zen said the tiramisu was fantastic.

then we decided we need more cheering up - shopping!

union square is supposedly a gd place to shop, after 5th avenue.

but we were distracted by the weekend market in the greenwich village area once we exited the subway station..

it's like our pasar malam, but much more high class. they sell more interesting stuffs too, like..

hand-dyed t-shirts, art pieces (we even came across a stall that sells nothing but paintings of naked women),

home-grown organic veggies, home-made jams/bread/cheese (u wont believe the varieties of jam/bread/cheese they have), etc. very interesting~

this stall sells brownies. the yellow note read, "ATTENTION NEW YORKERS: EGGS DO NOT COME FROM COWS! EGGS ARE NOT DAIRY." need me to emphasise new yorkers' intellect further? LoL~

of cuz an avid books-lover like ting must visit barnes & noble booksellers in the greenwich village area. as for me, i asked ting if we can leave after 30 seconds in the bookstore. it's just a library with pricetags wat. hahaha~

after barnes & noble, we finally got down to doing some reaL shopping. so engrossed in splurging that we forgot all about taking photos. haha~

had a few good buys in union square: a little black dress (the one i wore to NBS ball) for US$20 and a forever 21 shirt for US$20 (will cost much more in sg). hee~

saw this on our way back to the hotel..

in fact, it's just round the corner from our hotel. from the guide books, the things inside MoSex seem pretty interesting, but we didnt go in cuz it'll cost about US$20.

the housekeeper in madison hotel is so cute, she'll nicely arrange the plushie cats anastas gave us as parting souvenirs whenever she tidies our room.

cute huh? we were always looking forward to seeing how she arranged the cats whenever we get back to our hotel room, so funny. hehe~

okay i realised none of the photos in this post so far has us in them, so i havE to add this photo in..

that's us in the shirts the darlings gave us, plus meow's plushie cats. i still havent washed the shirt, for fear that the words they wrote on it will be gone after washing. it doesnt stink lahz, i hardly perspire in the hotel.

i love the climate in the states by the way, it's fantastic to not feel humid at all the whole day. hohoho~

so that sums up day 3. nothing much, actually. probably we were too depressed by the darlings' departure to be in the mood for much interesting stuffs. hmmm~

in fact, day 3 is kind of like a blur to me, had a hard time recalling what we did and saw. i cant even remember where we had lunch and dinner that day lorz, if we even ate lunch and dinner. haha~

Story of the son....

This is Pato's son... actually it is jus my mini Verne. But cos Pato liked it alot alot so he made it his son~

Opened my bag and Verne "poped" out
Pato: Oh so cute!! Can i have it?
Me: huh.... but i like it alot too...
Pato: okok... then it is urs. but can i keep it wif me while we are in NY?
Me: haha.. anything you say...
Pato: ok! it shall be my son!

So after this incident, i was made its mum (since it is mine) and our dear "son" sat in Pato's pocket for the whole of the 3 days his dad was in NY... and cos of that he appeared in alot of the photos we took~ Our "son" in his "home"... kawaii rite?? hohoho~

Pictures with the Statue of Liberty~ to show that it has been to NY? hahaha

Look at amount of shots that has our son in them?!?! So many!! and these are not all, so maybe we can play "spot the son" from our previous NY posts? haha

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Last photo taken before Pato returned to Wildwoods... I wanted to give him his son since he loved it so much. but he insisted i keep it. so i promised tt if he comes to sin, i will give it to him. therefore, this explains why he has to come collect his "son"... hehe~

big apple day 3 - the farewell

the day started on a depressing note, the guys are going back to wildwood and we girls probably wont see them for quite some time. =(

that's us at the bus pick-up place, taking photos with the guys for the last time in nyc.

ting taught pedro how to say thank u in chinese, and he was xiexie-ing pretty well, until we were leaving this chinese eatery after lunch. pedro said swee swee to the lady boss, and was reciprocated by a stare. i guess the lady boss knows hokkien huh? LoL~ so funny~

i gave pato my favourite ring, the one i always wear on my index finger. he was always bugging me to give it to him as a souvenir. trust that u'll treasure it ya, pato? =)

he also gave me a souvenir, and told me, "pls dont forget me, cuz i'll never forget u". awwww~ of cuz i wont forget u!

renato: maybe when i visit u in singapore, u might be married and forgot all abt me. and your husband will be asking, "who is this guy?"
zen: huh?!! when are you gonna visit me? i dont think i'll get married within the next 10 years or so. even if i am, i will make sure my husband gives me freedom to meet up with my friends. so dont worry, i will definitely bring u around sg.
renato: awwww zen, u'r so sweet!~ *hugz*

so cute lahz. i'll slap zen if she got married within 10 years. LoL~

and then they boarded the bus back to new jersey..

and the bus left..

sobz~

the gang of us created quite a drama at the bus pick-up place, it's as if we were acting out a farewell scene of a soap opera. haha~

when we went back to the hotel later that day, we discovered a pleasant surprise..

more souvenirs! the ecuador t-shirts that the guys have been wearing in the states. washed and dried, dont worry. haha~

there's also a note for us, written in spanish! we had to go down to the lobby and ask the receptionist to translate for us lorz. interesting~

hey darlings, hope u had fun in the states. it's really awesome to tour nyc with u guys, nice nice! school's starting soon, study hard ya? and do visit us in singapore, pato has to come collect his "son". haha~ te quiero mucho! *kisses & hugs* =)

big apple day 2 - times square!

if there's only one place u can visit in the big apple, i would say that place must be times square. it's such a fantabulously gorgeous place!

we were greeted by this once we got out of the subway station..

all of us were so awestruck by its beauty and vibrance that we just stood rooted and blocked everybody's way. haha~

it's much more stunning if u see it with your own eyes, serious!

there were soooo many people that night (probably cuz it's fri night), it's difficult to walk.

for tourists, times square is more of a shopping place. plus movies and broadway. we didnt watch any broadway musicals during our stay there though, figured they'r too expensive.

the following photo was taken painstakingly..

cuz there's too many people, and we had to hold up traffic just to snap a picture.

some familiar names in times square..

probably in the future we'll go there and work eh?? i want i want! ohohohoho~

some interesting sights..

NYPD is probably the highest-profile organisation in the big apple, could be seen almost everywhere lorz. i think we saw their cars and/or their officers at least once a day, probably cuz there's a terrorist bomb threat in nyc (again) just a few days before we arrived.

there's also a filming crew in times square the night we went, making the streets even more packed with their apparatus and all. but i saw no celebrities! hehz~

this fellow is selling 452 lovemaking positions for only US$1! but i never saw anyone buying from him lehz. hmm~

we left times square at abt 12am, when all the shops are closing (yes most of them close at 12midnight). it was still pretty bustling when we left, so u can see it's really a night place.

one of the things i like about the big apple is that their subway is 24/7, so we didnt have to take a taxi back to our hotel after 12am. that's quite alot of $$ saved. hehe~

lastly, to end off day 2..

group photo again again! taken when it was less crowded. i love times square!

big apple day 2 - after liberty

chinatown revisited

we went back chinatown to try their cheap chinese cai fan - US$4 for rice + soup + 4 dishes! okay it's not cheap if u exchange back to S$ (abt S$6.40), but it's considered cheap in nyc lahz.

as for the 4 dishes, we get to choose what we want. there's a wide variety of chinese cuisines to choose from, just like the cai fan stalls in sg lahz.

i was so amused when darling renato came back with his food...

me: *amused* why u chose all beancurd??? only 1 meat??
him: *shocked* they'r all beancurd?? i thought they're all meat!

just when i was laughing my guts out at his "cuteness", pedro came back with his food...

i nearly fainted. hahaha~

it's our fault lahz, we forgot to introduce the food to our dear ecuadorians. sorry darlings~ =P

the beancurds suck, so we girls donated some of our nicer dishes (especially meat) to those 2 poor guys.

it's evident from renato's expression that they didnt really enjoy that meal. haha~ damn funny lahz.

after lunch, we walked about at the other side of chinatown..

some rome-looking bridge thingy. okay actually i have no idea what it is, but it certainly felt very out of place to me. i mean, china & rome??

super duper oriental macdonald's. cool~

the world's local & (now) largest bank!

ting took that photo for her cousin who's working in HSBC, but i'm gonna free ride and say i took that photo for miao who's also working in HSBC now. hehe~

the 3 darlings! we love u guys deep deep and miss u guys lots lots! awwww~~

our latin-american & chinese combination was so invincible in nyc. there's lots of chinese and hispanics in nyc, and we are able to communicate with them in chinese (the girls) and spanish (the guys) respectively.

as for the rest of the population, all of us can use english. which basically means we can communicate with almost everybody in nyc! hohoho~

american museum of natural history

took a long time to find the place, but didnt stay there for long.

visitors get to look at the 3 dinosaur skeletons for free, but admission fees will be charged if u wanna see more.

we took photos with those 3 skeletons and left. cheapos. haha~

central park reservoir

the museum's right beside central park reservoir, so we just popped over to take a look.

nothing much lahz, just masses of water.

there's only 4 of them in the photo cuz renato is the photographer and i was hiding in the shades somewhere else. the weather was bloody hot can??

see, im not kidding, the sun was so bright! hahaha~

took those photos at a playground near the reservoir. we still have young hearts! wahahaha~

to end off this post..

group photo again! =)

coming up next: times square!
