big apple day 5 - times square in the day!

we cut short our frolick in central park and rushed down to times square to get rush tickets for the afternoon broadway musicals. heard it's real cheap, like more than 50% slashed.

that's the place to get broadway rush tickets, tkts box office. but it was not yet opened when we went, cuz there's no afternoon show on mondays. sobz~

the evening shows are far too pricey, we figured we could get a front row seat with the same price if the crew toured sg. and so, no broadway for us. hmmm.

it's okay, cuz we took the chance to visit times square in the day!

as breathtaking as at night! nice nice~

i super love times square lahz, though there are people who challenged my proclaimation of it being the no.1 place to visit in nyc.

pirates 2 was showing then, and macdonald's had a tie-in promotion with the movie. buy a meal and u get a jack sparrow toy or something. i love johnny depp!

oh that macdonald's beside johnny depp has the most dazzling signboard of all macs. haha~

i forgot to mention that this building is right beside tkts..

probably the now-insane tom cruise was inside this church of scientology while i was snapping the photo? LoL~

after that we went yoshinoya for lunch (it's almost the same as sg), and then we went shopping in times square.

that's a shop that sells an unbelievably huge amount of hats. hat-lovers should go there and take a look. siwei and merry bought some nice hats from there, but i'm not sure about the price.

one of the souvenir shops there sells toilet papers with interesting prints on it. customers can choose to wipe their asses with saddam hussein, osama, or $100 greenbacks. haha~

this busker was in the middle of the road, wearing nothing but a pair of briefs, charming all the ladies with his jolly toned muscles. ermz, no comments.

times square toy'r us is huge, 3 storeys high i think. very big. and some stuffs are ridiculously cheap, zen bought a collector's edition monopoly box set for oni US$10!

saw geoffrey and took a photo of him (not allowed to take photo witH him), he's so adorable! when he saw that i was about to snap a photo of him, he hurriedly grabbed a flower and posed. awwww cute!~

then we saw elmo in tux and took a photo witH him!

ting reminded us that we took a similar photo (bottom) in cape may. me and zen just cant resist elmo lahz. haha~

next stop: new york public library!

on our way there we saw the famed chrysler building!

omg it's magnificient! splendid design, inspired by the liberty lady i guess. in my opinion, it's more splendid than empire state building. shall confer it the title "qian's favourite building". hee~

anyways, we reached new york public library only to find out that it's closed!

note to nyc tourists: new york public library is closed on mondays! argh~

i was hiding under the shade while the rest were photo-taking. merry was trying to photograph the stone lion above me, actually. haha~

the weather that day was murderous! 100 fahrenheit = 38 degrees celsius! OMG~ sooooo scorching hot!~

but the thing about the summer weather there is that it's hot and dry. no sticky feeling after perspiring, which is gooooood. and if u'r under shelter away from the sun, the heat is actually pretty bearable.

oh that fan was a free gift from tkts, to promote beauty & the beast the musical. it came in real handy indeed. hoho~

ting joined me in seeking refuge under the shade. zen (i think) caught us red-handed, said we looked like thieves. adorable thieves, that is. hahahaha~

since we were already there, might as well take the chance to take photos of the library's exterior.

ay, great pains for the above group photo. seriously, new yorkers should learn how to use digicams and free nyc tourists of the agony of having lousy group photos taken by passers-by. LoL~

we head on to fifth avenue next, stay tuned!
